Pan-Icarian Brotherhood - Oinoe Chapter 14 - Southern California

[Sailing]

This web page is sponsored by Oinoe Chapter #14 (Southern California) of the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood. The Oinoe chapter was founded in 1950 and has a paid membership of over 200. The Icarian colony of southern California began after World War II when Icarians migrated from eastern states to a few suburbs east of Los Angeles. A large percentage of Icarians still live in the suburbs of Alhambra, Arcadia, South Pasadena, San Marino, and San Gabriel.

Chapter News and Updates

Dear Fellow Members,

The Christmas Party on Saturday, December 10th will not take place because we were unable to secure adequate accommodations. At the last Chapter meeting on November 17th, the party was discussed and those in attendance expressed that the hall at St. Anthony’s was not inviting or warm enough for a holiday gathering. In the future, if any of our members would like to offer their homes for Chapter functions, please contact any of the Chapter officers. Your gesture would be much appreciated.
Chapter elections will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2006 at 5pm at St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Church hall. Dinner will be provided. Please contact any of the officers with your interest in running for any of the four positions; President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. We would like to have ballots made up for the election meeting if there is more than one person running for one office. We would like to encourage the members who are able, to consider running for office and continue the traditions of the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood. Your participation is needed and most appreciated! Topics of discussion at this meeting will include the possibility of hosting the 2008 Pan-Icarian Convention, raising membership dues to $30, and hosting the National Lodge in February 2006.
Lastly, we would like to wish all our members a blessed Christmas and most joyous and prosperous New Year!

See you Saturday, January 21st!

Best regards,
Maria Katsas Alexandra Katsas
President Secretary

Chapter Meeting and other news!

Dear Fellow Members,

The summer is over and fall is upon us already! We have a couple of exciting things planned for the end of the year, the first of which is a Chapter Meeting on Thursday, November 17th. It will take place at Twohey’s Restaurant located at 1224 N. Atlantic Blvd. in Alhambra. The meeting will promptly begin at 6 p.m. and will not last longer than two hours. We understand it is a weeknight, and everyone has commitments back at home, but we would appreciate your attendance. We will be discussing the possibility of hosting the 2008 National Pan-Icarian convention and other various topics. Secondly, we are planning a Christmas Party on Saturday, December 10th, location to be determined. We are still ironing out the details, but please save the date!
Since we prefer not to mix business with the festivities of the season, we would like to hold Chapter elections on Saturday, January 21st, 2006.
Lastly, we are planning a Past President’s Dinner in honor of all our faithful and hard-working past Presidents. We are looking at locations and dates in February. Please contact us if you have any suggestions for locations with fair prices.
